Launch of the EU Youth Grants Program at the Youth Empowerment Center
On 18 June, the Youth Empowerment Center (YEC) officially launched the EU Youth Grants Program during an opening event that brought together representatives from government institutions, the private sector, supporting partners, and participating youth teams, marking the beginning of a new phase of support for youth-led initiatives. The event featured opening remarks delivered by representatives of government entities, private sector institutions, and development partners, highlighting the importance of investing in young people, supporting youth-led initiatives, and strengthening partnerships that contribute to sustainable community development. Participating teams also delivered brief presentations introducing their project ideas, giving attendees the opportunity to learn about the initiatives while creating valuable networking opportunities between the teams and representatives from different sectors. The program brings together 32 youth teams, competing for 9 grants, each worth USD 8,000, to support the implementation and growth of their projects. Beyond financial support, the program includes a comprehensive capacity-building component, providing the selected teams with training, mentorship, and technical guidance to strengthen their projects and enhance their long-term sustainability. The Youth Empowerment Center (YEC) is implemented by Medalah Foundation, in partnership with Oxfam in Yemen, and with the support and funding of the European Union in Yemen.
